Designing 125kHz Antennas Near Metal
Metal changes field distribution and coil parameters and is the most common LF antenna pitfall.
Avoid fully surrounding the coil with metal; use slots, gaps or spacing to reduce coupling.
Keep a tunable matching network and adjust capacitors and damping resistors based on lab tests.
During system testing, vary temperature, supply and mechanical alignment to probe corner cases.
